The Journey Begins
After a few emotional days after the diagnosis, we have come to a point in which we are very thankful for the fact that she has enough hearing so that with aids she will be able to be on track for school when she begins kindergarten. Our biggest hurdles so far have been to just find out where to start. With the help of many friends and our doctors we have been able to get a quick start on contacting places. At the current time we are in the process of trying to find funding for the hearing aids and deciding if we are going to start with loaner hearing aids provided by Georgia Pines. We will be meeting with them on Wednesday afternoon. Other things that we have in the works are waiting for our call back from Babies Can't Wait and applying for the Katie Beckett waiver. We are also going to be performing a genetic test and CAT scan in hopes to figure out the cause of the hearing loss. This will hopefully provide some insight on one of our biggest fears, the possibility that what hearing she has may be lost. Please continue to keep Amelia and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
