This year Amelia's buddies Gerald & Margaret graduated from the Hamm Program at the Atlanta Speech School. Amelia is going to stay one more year for the reading program and a little more speech therapy. Amelia has made so much progress!! She was awarded today the Speech Award for her significant improvements in her speech & language. Amelia, Margaret, & Gerald started the speech school as babies together. They went through toddler class last year together and this year they were in the preschool program. We will still see all our speech school friends, especially with Let Georgia Hear, we are bonded forever. We are happy they are graduating!! The tears are from reflection & sacrifice. They are tears of joy and tears of relief. After all the tragedies dealing with children this year (Sandy Hook & Oklahoma Tornado), we are reminded that life is precious and many parents would love to sit at graduation, but will not. Many of the kids at the speech school are fighters, they have overcome cancer and other life threatening illnesses. All kids have some uniqueness or struggle and I will gladly sacrifice more years of taking Amelia to school or whatever it takes. -Scarlett
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. These pictures are worth a book and I might write it one day.
